Who here writes?: I do, as well.
Do you write poetry or stories?: Stories, mostly. Nothing against poetry, but it seems as though a lot of it (mostly from young adults/teens) sounds really generic and similar. It's really hard to make it sound as though it's truly "coming from the heart", if that makes any sense.
Have you ever written a novel?: Finished, no, but I as well am working on several works. The only problem is when I come up with something new, dedicate myself to it, realize it doesn't have enough structure to fill it, and then scrap it. Hopefully I will be able to commit myself to more writing this summer.
What genre do you like to write?: Fantasy sounds pretty accurate, although it covers a large category (sci-fi could probably count as "fantasy", and I do a little of that as well).
The hardest thing about being a writer is putting in the time and effort to really develop your works into more than just hopes for the future. There are so many people I've come across (it's really common on sites like Neopets) that know they'll be writers someday, but end up casting it aside as some adolescent phase. I guess what I'm droning on about is that I hope those of you who really enjoy writing will stick with it to the end, because there are some original ideas out there that would completely shadow the overused plots of present-day writers.
